Michael Spilka (Clinical Scientist) will be presenting the poster Computational Speech and Language Features for Within- and Between-Subject Symptom Characterization in First-Episode Psychosis (poster #F119; Friday, April 5 session from 12:30-2:30pm). This poster reports results from an academic collaboration project (University of Toronto, Centre for Addiction and Mental Health) looking at remote speech assessment for symptom monitoring and relapse prediction in first-episode psychosis.
Our work in schizophrenia has focused on using voice assessment and computational speech and language analysis (acoustic signal analysis, Natural Language Processing) to measure the communication disturbances that reflect positive symptoms, negative symptoms, cognitive deficits, and real-world functional impairment in schizophrenia spectrum disorders.
